Hey everyone, I’d like to introduce a new addition to Setting the Tone: From the Bench–a piano player’s perspective on leading music at Mass.
From the Bench will be a video series where I casually share how I look at music as a director leading from the piano, and what I’ve learned over the last 25 years being at Saint Ann’s Catholic Church in Marietta, GA. I will share some ideas on how I approach various topics like:
– introducing new music to the assembly
– arranging a song for a band/praise band/contemporary ensemble
– arranging contemporary songs for large and small choirs
– cueing the singers/instrumentalists
…and much more!
I invite you to check out this first video, my first attempt! I hope you find it helpful.
Thanks!
–Ed

Love the re-done layout! Good video.
One request/bit of feedback: a lot of the VAO material (including this song) have a hymna/program file with only the refrain, but it would be amazing if more of them could have fuller hymnal versions for WLP license holders so you could have the option of including all the verses/pre-choruses/whatever and have a greater chance of the congregation participating during the whole song.
Eliza, thanks, and I will pass that information along!
